The story
From a Hong Kong group to a European smart home brand
The SALUS Controls story starts in 1974 with the founding of the Computime Group in Hong Kong. The group expanded into factories in Guangzhou and, in the 1980s, into the United States.
2004 — the European base
SALUS Controls UK is founded as the headquarters for all European operations, in Rotherham. Country offices and centres of excellence follow across Europe.
Since — the platform
Thermostats, underfloor controls, energy products and now security, all on one Zigbee platform and one app. SALUS was among the first in Europe to launch an internet-controlled thermostat.

Manufacturing and expansion
Factories open in Guangzhou, China, followed by expansion into the USA.

SALUS Controls launches
The brand is launched, with offices opened in Europe and Japan.

SALUS UK opens
Rotherham becomes the headquarters for all European operations.
- 2005–2014
European offices
Germany (2005), Poland (2009), SALUS Nordic (2013) and Romania (2014). The group's 40th anniversary falls in 2014.

Listed on the HKEX
The group lists on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange under code 320.
- 2017–2019
Awards
Bloomberg "Listed Enterprises of the Year" and Economic Digest "Hong Kong Outstanding Enterprises" in 2017; Gold at the HK ICT Gala Awards in 2018; a CES Innovation Award for the 2020 programme.
- 2021–2022
New centre of excellence
A centre of excellence opens in Romania in 2021. In 2022, after 48 years, Computime's founder retires and names Bernard Auyang Pak Hong as CEO.
- 2024–2025
The Protect range
The SALUS Smart Home app is retired and accounts migrate to SALUS Premium Lite. SALUS Protect launches a dual direct-and-installer model for its IMMUNITY and MERLIN security systems.

"Safety" is in the mission statement. Security is not a diversification for SALUS so much as the last piece of the smart home it already claimed to cover.
