Fingerprint Capacity & Best Practices
ProtectorXT can store up to 32 fingerprints and provide recognition and response in less than two seconds. ProtectorXT’s designers recommend that an individual program at least 3 fingerprints (thumb, fore and middle fingers) for each hand so that the owner has access with his/her fingerprint even if one digit may be damaged due to a cut or other image changing event. It is recommended that the owner practice the authentication process several times in order to become comfortable with the process, regardless of the circumstances of the need to retrieve the firearm.
The ProtectorXT’s design allows it to be mounted perpendicular to or parallel with a securing surface such as a wall, post or other vertical surface. ProtectorXT can be secured to a wall stud or other similar surface in a building, room or other building structure such as a garage, hunting camp or shooting range, on a weather-protected post. Mounting holes are provided in the product’s backbone component; instructions are included with ProtectorXT for installation.
Programming ProtectorXT for first use
ProtectorXT arrives with complete instructions for the gun owner to program his/her fingerprint to access the firearm. Once the owner’s fingerprints are programmed, we recommend programming at least one other user’s fingerprints for back-up purposes.
